  • Form two even teams. Assign and attacking and defending team. 4 players from each team start on the court. Use 1/3 of the court as the playing area and extend the sideline to form an 'end zone'.
  • Attacking team start with the ball and must maintain possession inside the playing area (excluding the end-zone) for a marked period
Set a timed value of 30-45 seconds to maintain possession
Alternatively, you can make this a fixed number of passes, e.g. 10-20
    The held-ball rule applies
  • Defending team try to effect a turnover using a variety of tactics, including:-
Fast feet and anticipation to intercept a pass
    Pressure the passer
    Block opponents
  • Once attacking team have been in possession for set time/no. of passes, call 'score!' - they must progress into the 'end-zone'
Turn this into a game by scoring a point for a completion, and keeping score.
  • Rotate the attacking and defending teams, sub-on players, repeat.
  • Progression. Try adding more players (e.g. 5 v 5) if you have the numbers.
  • If you add players you may choose to extend the length of the court accordingly to avoid congestion.
More congestion equals more difficulty for attackers, so you can adjust this to suit.
