  • Form 2 even teams and choose ends. Tell players the objective is to thieve opponents cones and place them inside their own goal circle. Scatter 10 cones in each goal circle.
  • Players begin in their home base third. On 'go!' the team split duties between:-
    1. Guards who stay at home base and defend cones in possession
    2. Thieves who run down the other end and attempt to steal from the opposing team's stash of cones
  • Guards: Only allowed outside the goal circle and in their defensive third
Block approaching attackers by tracking their run and placing their body in their path
Can block both ways - impede the attacker's entry into and exit from the goal circle
  • Attackers: Run to the opponents end and try to slip past the guards into the goal circle and back out, to fetch a cone
Only 1 cone can be stolen per trip
Normal netball rules regarding contact & obstruction - penalise attackers by making them retreat to home base / penalise defenders by attackers to fetch a cone and exit unobstructed
Once through, the thief returns the cone to goal circle, deposits it, exits the area quickly.
  • After 90-120 second call 'stop!' and count the cones. Recover & repeat.
Discuss tactics used, e.g. committing troops versus defending barracks, and their effectiveness
