Puffing Shooting
  • Purpose
    Players must be able to take a deep breath and steady before shooting, especially after intense running. Good for fitness and skills when fatigued.

  • Players line up behind (A). Coach or injured player (B) has a stack of balls around their feet.
  • (A) must sprint the circuit of cones from (1) to (5).
    At each cone, make a quick change of direction
  • Once player reaches (5) they dodge back to the post to receive from (B)
    Lead to different places inside the goal circle so shots vary
    The catch shouldn't be taken too near the post so it's somewhat challenging
  • The critical part has arrived: players take a breath to steady, then go through their basic shot routine
    Players must mentally overcome their tiredness and work calmly through their routine
  • After shooting (A) returns ball to feeder (B)'s pile before jogging to end of line (A)
  • Progression: Assign a defender to pressure the shooter.
    Advanced teams: Defenders play full defence; lower grades simply apply shot defence.
